Recent data shows that downloads and monthly user growth of ChatGPT are rising at a slower pace.

A  latest report from market-intelligence establishment Sensor Tower shows that ChatGPT, possessed by OpenAI, remains the leading AI-chatbot worldwide. As of November 2025, ChatGPT accounts for about 50% of global mobile-download share and 55% of monthly active users.

However, the same data show a deceleration in growth between August and  November 2025,with  global yearly active users rising only by around 6%, reaching roughly 810 million.

Meanwhile, rival Gemini from Google has seen faster growth in downloads, monthly active users, and time spent in the app.

Thus, while ChatGPT still leads in absolute numbers, its expansion is slowing down. that The growth pattern suggests market saturation could be setting in.

As user growth slows, competition speeds up. Slower growth may push OpenAI to  speed up advancements, new features, or business-model changes. For users, this shift could affect how quickly new updates roll out. For formulators and enterprises counting on ChatGPT, a deceleration might impact long-term adoption prospects.

ChatGPT surged in demand after its launch and crossed hundreds of millions of users worldwide.

But by late 2025,  data depicts the signs of plateauing. While AI rivals like Gemini and other rising chatbot apps are expanding, this raises questions about ChatGPT’s dominance and the future of AI chat platforms.
