Son told South Korea’s president that advanced AI may exceed human intelligence by a huge margin
During a meeting with South Korea’s president, Masayoshi Son, CEO of SoftBank claimed that an advanced AI could become up to 10,000 times smarter than the human brain.
He said this kind of artificial super-intelligence (ASI) could relegate humans to the status of “fish” while AI takes on human-like intelligence. Son suggested that this AI might be able to win a prize akin to the Nobel Prize in Literature.
He was quick to add that such a future need not be hostile ASI “does not eat protein”, so humans should not worry about being literally harmed.
Son’s reflections punctuate the intense goal and expedients girding AI’s future as well as prominent questions.However, the balance between human roles and AI- driven progress could shift dramatically, If AI becomes exponentially smarter than humans.
This raises ethical, societal and economic questions about what places humans might retain when ASI becomes dominant.
The idea of ASI being far more capable than current AI or indeed human intelligence is uncertain and hypothetical. Experts suggest that a more modest turning point, Artificial General Intelligence( AGI), which performs across a wide variety of tasks like humans, could arrive within a decade.
